UK University Selection

There are over 150 universities and colleges within the UK offering an extensive range of courses. We can help place students, for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The universities we work with are world renowned for high standards of teaching and research. Qualifications awarded from these universities are internationally recognised and enhance career prospects globally.

The Universities and Colleges Admissions Services (UCAS) is a centralised application system in the UK for undergraduate courses (with the exception of the Open University). The 15th of January is the most common deadline for university applications.  However, those students wanting to apply to Oxford, Cambridge or courses in medicine, dentistry and veterinary science, must apply by October 15th. Alternatively, in August, if students find they were not able to meet the criteria of their chosen university, we can help with the selection and placement at another university through the ‘clearing’ system.

James-Lee Consultancy Ltd. will assist students with: course selection; UCAS application; personal statement and interview preparation. For students who are overseas, we can put them in touch with agencies we work with who are local to the student, to assist with the visa process.  We will liaise closely with the students, agencies and universities every step of the way.  If students prefer to speak to someone in their local language or meet in person, we currently have local representatives who are based in Hong Kong and Mainland China who can travel around Asia to meet them.

Alternatively, students can arrange a call back in their native language.

UK Universities

In the UK, a Bachelor degree typically takes three years to complete. Some exceptions include: when the course is done on a part time basis or when a degree includes a sandwich course. A sandwich course is when the student takes a year away from their degree to work as an intern or gain work experience. Students who do not pass the prerequisites to progress to the next year will be required to repeat the year.

Courses in medicine, dentistry and veterinary sciences will take at least 5 years to complete and 6 years if students intercalate.  Intercalating means students are able to take a year out of these courses to complete a BSc or BA.

Entry Requirements for overseas students

Entry requirements differ between universities however, as a standard, students typically need to be at least 18 years old, have completed a secondary school education and meet the minimum English language requirements.

We can advise on each university and course accordingly. Should the student not meet the appropriate requirements, we can further advise them on the necessary steps to meet those requirements e.g.: attending a foundation course or an access course, sitting an IELTS exam etc.

James-Lee Consultancy offers university guardianship services to students under the age of 18 at the start of their university course, those new to the UK or simply students who wish to have extra support.
