To respond to the Omicron variant, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced new, temporary measures. Starting from 4 am on 30 November in British Time:

- All international arrivals must take a Day 2 PCR test and self-isolate until they receive a negative result

- All contacts of suspected Omicron cases must self-isolate, regardless of vaccination status

- Face coverings to be made compulsory in shops and public transport (from 4am on Tuesday 30th November)

- Pupils in England in year 7 and above, staff and visitors, are being strongly advised to wear a face covering in communal areas
