About the School
Rugby School is one of the top academic schools in the UK which has always prided itself on its pioneering approach to the curriculum and its efforts to prepare students for university life and beyond. From 2021, Rugby started to offer the International Baccalaureate to sixth form students apart from A Level, allowing students to decide the best route that suits their interests and future aspirations.
There are 15 Houses with 13 boarding houses and 2 day houses, promoting a strong sense of community. All of the boarding houses have a piano and some also have practice rooms.
Exam Results and University Destinations
In 2020, at GCSE, 66.4% of the grades were 9-8 (or equivalent) and 85.9% were 9-7 (or equivalent). At A Level, 30.2% of the grades were A* (or equivalent), 70.5% were A*-A (or equivalent), and 90.8% were A*-B (or equivalent).
In 2019, 9 leavers went on to Oxford and 6 leavers went on to Cambridge, which was the highest number of students entering into Oxbridge from 2012 to 2019. Other popular destinations included Newcastle University, Bristol University, Durham University and Edinburgh University.
There are regular trips to all parts of the world annually, for example, Geography visit to Barcelona, Art and Design visit to New York, History visit to Krakow and Berlin, rugby football tour to Singapore, and cricket tour to Dubai.
Rugby is also nationally recognised for the sport teams and the five core sports are rugby, hockey, netball, cricket and tennis.
A wide range of sporting facilities are available at The Spots Centre and across the campus including two multi sport halls, a 25-metre and 6-lane swimming pool, Astro pitches, and fully-equipped gym.
For music facilities, Rugby School has four fine pipe organs, and also a full range of percussion and orchestral instruments that are on loan to students.
